All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was set-up in November 1945 as a national level Apex Advisory Body to conduct surveys on the facilities in technical education and to promote development in a coordinated and integrated manner. To ensure the same, as stipulated in the National Policy of  Education (1986), AICTE is vested with statutory authority for planning, formulation and maintenance of norms and standards, quality assurance through accreditation, funding in priority areas, monitoring and evaluation, maintaining parity of certification and awards and ensuring coordinated and integrated development and management of technical education in the country.The various grants offered by AICTE are:-

 Ministry of Science & Technology Department of Science & Technology

“Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure in Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (FIST) Program – 2015” Proposals are invited for consideration of support under the Scheme “Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure (FIST)” of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. The Scheme is intended to provide basic infrastructure and enabling facilities for promoting R&D activities in new and emerging areas and attracting fresh talents in universities & other educational institutions.

 Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR)

The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) --the premier industrial R&D organization in India was constituted in 1942 by a resolution of the then Central Legislative Assembly. It is an autonomous body registered under the Registration of Societies Act of 1860.CSIR aims to provide industrial competitiveness, social welfare, strong S&T base for strategic sectors and advancement of fundamental knowledge.

  Department of Atomic Energy

The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) was set up by the Government of India under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), in the year 1983, to foster the development of higher mathematics in the country, to formulate policies for the development of mathematics, help in the establishment and development of mathematical centres and give financial assistance to research projects and to doctoral and postdoctoral scholars. The NBHM functions essentially autonomously framing its own budget taking into account the funds made available by DAE.

The 2005 review of the Trusts' education portfolio by Dr Krishna Kumar, Dr Anandalakshmy, and Prof Govinda Rao, had recommended a multi-layer strategy of intervention.

  US-India Institutional Partnership Grants

The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) announces an open competition for the support of projects through the Obama – Singh 21st Century Knowledge Initiative (OSI). Announced by the US and Indian governments, OSI aims to strengthen collaboration and build partnerships between American and Indian institutions of higher education. Accredited US post-secondary educational institutions meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 U.S.C. 501c(3) may submit proposals to support the program’s goals of encouraging mutual understanding, facilitating educational reform, fostering economic development, and engaging civil society through academic cooperation with Indian post-secondary educational institutions.
